Gestalt Network Scotland Event November 2023
REGISTER NOW!

The fifth Gestalt Network Scotland event will take place in November.  Sign up using the form below.

Date: 18 November 2023

Time: 10:30 - 4pm

Venue: St Johns Church Hall, West End of Princes Street Edinburgh

Cost: In a change to previous events, the cost will be slightly higher for this event as we have hired an external facilitator to support the afternoon session.  Depending on numbers, we expect this to be somewhere between £40 - £60 to cover costs of venue hire, lunch and the facilitator.

Costs are split between all participants so no refunds are available for non attendance.

This will be our final event of 2023, our first year of running. This session will be slightly different to the structure that has emerged during this year, with 2 distinct sessions.

Session 1 - Money in the Therapeutic Relationship

In the morning, Paulina Bak will facilitate an exploration on the theme of 'Money in the Therapeutic Relationship'. Paulina proposed this topic last weekend, such is her wish to engage with others on the powerful themes and issues evoked around the place of money in our work as therapist.  She invites you to consider the following questions, and reflect on any other questions/themes that come up for you when you think about money and the therapeutic relationship.

What motivates you to do this job and how does money contribute to your motivation?

Think if you were not paid, would you still put the same effort into it?

How do you set the fee for your "service"?

How do you decide how it should be valued?

What is the impact on the therapeutic relationship when clients forget to pay regularly? Do you bring that it easily or if not what's the difficulty?

How do you feel about raising the fee to existing clients? What's your experience with that?

What is your cancellation policy and how do you assert it? Examples and experiences of clients who didn't want to pay because they thought they had a good reason to cancel and not to pay even though it was breaching the cancellation policy period.

This session will be introduced with a developing presence exercise to find make contact with our embodied experience in relation to the theme.

Session 2 - Gestalt Network Scotland: Reflecting on Experience to Date and Thinking Ahead

In the afternoon we will take some time to review where we are as a Network at the end of this first year of coming together, and consider what we want for the year ahead and how to make this happen.  This session will be facilitated by Lindsey Graham, and organisational development consultant Gillian knows well through her work with the charity Edinburgh Development Group.

Questions to consider:

What has worked well this year?

What would you like to be different?

Where do you feel yourself in relation to the ongoing development of the network?  Do you want to be more involved in the development, delivery and organisation? Or are you happy to leave that to others and come along and participate on the day?

Are there themes you would like to explore next year?

Gillian and Karen have led and held the development of this experiment and taken on an organising role, whilst also being participants.  How is it working without a dedicated leader/facilitator of the sessions?
